To Doppler, or not to Doppler?

I'm trying to decide if I should rent a doppler. Any insight? I'm worried it will just make me crazy, but I know a lot of you ended up being able to control it better than you might have expected...

I didn't get one, but it was mostly out of laziness. Maybe you could try it, and if it makes you nuts, you could just have your hubby hide it.

My OB was great about impromptu appointments so I just had several u/s and doppler visits when I got stressed.

I thought it would make me nuts, until I "graduated" from the RE to regular OB care, and hence no regular u/s. Talk about withdrawal!! I don't use it much (twice/week) but it definitely calms my fears in those moments of craziness. I got it for 6 months from www.heartones.com, and I can send it back early if I want to for money back. Hope this helps!

I always hated ultrasounds, since at every appointment I was convinced (and I was usually right) that some new, unexpected horror would be revealed.

When the doctor told me that I could come in as often as I wanted, I said "How about never?" That didn't go over too well.

So obviously, I'm completely the wrong person to ask. But many people, so I've heard, find dopplers very reassuring.

I used mine twice a day. Sometimes more. Shhhhh.

It didn't MAKE me crazy. I WAS crazy. It helped with the terror.

My husband and I ended up getting a Doppler, and I did feel better.

I forgot to add that we ended up buying the Doppler, and I 'gave' it away to a friend of my husband's sister. And I have never heard anything since. No thank you. No nothing. And yes, she knew all that we had been through. I have decided that some people can be assholes.

I rented one when I got pregnant with Cooper. I had just miscarried about 4 months earlier. I found it very reassuring to have as I had bleeding at 13.5 weeks and was still able to find a heartbeat without any problems. I ended up returning it to babybeat once I was able to feel Cooper move on a regular basis. My older son, Nicholas, enjoyed being able to hear his little brother moving around.

I rented one when i was pg with Chloe and it was a real sanity-saver. I also thought that it would make me crazy but it did in fact help calm me down. I didn't have much trouble finding her h/b though. I kept it throughout the pregnancy.

This time i don't have one yet, but i have lately been thinking of possibly renting one for these last few months....
